Step-by-Step: Measuring a Square or Rectangular Room

  1. Measure the Width and Length:Measure the longest wall from end to end in to any doorchecks or recesses.
Measure the adjacent wall to get the width.Record both measurements in metres or centimetres.

  2. Account for Nooks and Recesses:If there are alcoves, bay windows, or doorways, measure them separately.Add those areas to your main measurements.

  3. Add a Margin: Always add 10cm to the length & width to allow for trimming and fitting.

Important Tips

  • Always measure at the widest points of the room.

  • Double-check measurements to avoid ordering too little.

  • Include all usable floor space, even under furniture if it’s not fitted.

  • Take photos or draw a diagram to help us visualise your room.
